Steve Bankston
President

Steve is a partner and co-owner of ABEC Electric.  He received his electrical training in the NJATC (National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee).

Steve has always had an innate ability to envision projects while still on paper, and to understand the intent and scope of the electrical work required.  These abilities, along with years of hard work, are the primary reasons behind his success as our Senior Estimator.

Steve and his wife, Priscilla, have one son, Hunter. They live in Mt. Juliet and spend much of their family time split between the ballpark, snow skiing, and water skiing.  Steve also enjoys the occasional airplane flight, hunting, and fishing.

“What I like best about my job is working with the great people and work ethic we have here at ABEC.  I like the pride and satisfaction I get from providing clients with the best service possible to handle any need they may have.”

Steve Bankston

John Warner
Vice-President

John is a partner and co-owner of ABEC Electric Company.  He received his training by serving an Electrical Apprenticeship and going to school through the NJATC (National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee).  John worked for a local industrial/commercial contractor as an electrician and job foreman until he came to ABEC Electric in 1996.

John’s field experience and background with heavy industrial installations lends itself to the jobs he manages today.  Technical expertise, honesty, and integrity are the key components that customers and clients have come to appreciate in working with John.

John loves the outdoors and spends most of his spare time at the farm in Hickman County with his wife Cheri, daughters Kaeleigh and Hannah, and grandson, Isaac.  Time at the farm consists largely of enjoying the country, hunting, riding four wheelers, and working on the house.

“What I like best about my job is representing a company that stands for true professionalism; a professionalism established by Mike and Steve from Day One that continues through the daily tasks of every employee at ABEC Electric Company. I have been fortunate to be a part of some of our more complicated projects, and it is a real advantage and a true honor to work with such professional men and women to bring those projects to completion. I look forward, with optimism, to future projects and challenges, knowing that with our group of professionals, the only outcome will be success.”

Sherri Brooks
Office Manager

Sherri handles all of the accounting and financial aspects of ABEC Electric, and much, much more.  With 15 years experience in the construction industry, she has pretty much seen it all!  She and her staff handle insurance needs, keep us stocked in office supplies, and arrange our social events.  Sherri joined ABEC in 2004, after Mike Pogreba struck up a conversation with her at a car wash.

A native of Morehead, Kentucky, Sherri moved here 25 years ago and now calls Nashville home.  She is married to Hunter and has one daughter, Noelle, a college graduate with a Radiography degree.  For fun, Sherri likes to drive her red Corvette and bowl competitively.

“Working at ABEC Electric is truly a “blessing” for me. Each day I look forward to coming to work, which is rare in most cases. My co-workers are like an extended family with each of us truly caring about one another. Everyone does their part, which makes the “wheels” of ABEC electric keep turning round and round. I am frequently challenged with new tasks and also get to do the work that I enjoy. The owners, Mike, Steve, and John, are great to work for and with. They provide all of us with a pleasant working environment and we are always treated with fairness, honesty, and shown gratitude for our efforts. When I was offered a position at ABEC Electric, I felt then that coming to work here was “meant to be” and almost 5 years later, I still feel that same way. Lucky me.”

Doug Elam
Service Manager

Doug has been around the electrical industry his whole life, as his father was also an electrician.  Doug began his own electrical career in 1978.  Since graduating from the NJATC (National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee) in 1985, he has been involved in nearly every aspect of the industry from service work to being a superintendent to managing and overseeing many projects and personnel at once.  Some of his more notable projects have included Nissan Motors Plant, General Motors Saturn Plant, Bosch, and the Titans Stadium.

His diverse experience and dedication to customer satisfaction are what make Doug such a valuable part of the team.  Since joining ABEC in 2004, Doug has built up the service department to now include six dedicated service technicians and an extensive list of repeat customers.

When not working, Doug enjoys spending time on the farm with his wife Vicky and their family.  He also enjoys horseback riding and cruising around on his Triumph motorcycle.

“What I like best about my job is a big part of the reason I came to work for ABEC in the first place.  I believed then that I was going to work for a company whose leaders have a vision of where they want to go and are willing to take anyone with them that is willing to put in the effort.  I don’t think I was wrong.  I enjoy working at a company where the attitude is one of camaraderie, dedication and cooperation toward a common goal of making not only the company, but everyone involved as successful as possible.”

She then went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University. Charlie is married to Candi and has five children: Chris, Ashley, Dakoda, Hallie, and Grace.  He is a spiritually-based person who likes to spend time camping with his family, fishing, and watching NASCAR racing.

“I guess the best thing I like about my job is being able to be myself.  Nobody judges you or measures you to anyone.  We all have a certain gift here at ABEC and that is what makes our team competitive.  You can look around at us and pull something different from each person.  I am most thankful for the opportunity to do what I do.  Project Managing/Estimating is something I have wanted to do for about 6 years now and I thank Mike, Steve, and John for the confidence that they have in me to let me expand.

Thanks ABEC for a great work environment and a great opportunity.”

Rick Sindorf
Estimator / Project Manager

Rick is a U.S. Army Vietnam Era veteran who was honorably discharged before beginning his electrical career and graduating from the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) apprenticeship program.  When he joined ABEC Electric in 2005, he brought with him over 30 years of electrical experience.

Many of the jobs Rick manages deal with hospital and medical specialty equipment such as CT scans, Innova Biplane Imaging, and MRI’s.  He has overseen many large projects in Baptist and St. Thomas Hospitals, Tennessee Department of Labor, several YMCA’s, and many other office and warehouse facilities.

Along with the electrical experience Rick contributes to ABEC, he also has approximately 14 years of teaching experience and is currently teaching first year students in the ABC apprenticeship program.  Rick’s positive attitude, upbeat personality, dedication, and sense of humor help to contribute to all the jobs he manages and to the success of ABEC Electric.

Rick’s time away from work is spent with his wife Debbie and their sons Eric and Kevin.  He also enjoys stream fishing, hunting, and attending races, baseball, football and hockey games.

“I am truly proud to be working in the professional environment we have here at ABEC Electric Company.  When you are able to wake up and look forward to going to work, obviously something is special.  The people who work here are what makes this company what it is.  As we go through our day we are reminded of the truly important things in life as well as work.  When you walk in the front door, the Ten Commandments are on the wall, a subtle reminder that there are far greater things for us to remember about our life.  But beyond that, you realize that people genuinely like each other here, and it helps us to assist our friends outside our company to succeed with their goals and feel comfortable doing business with us.  Dealing honestly, and with integrity and professionalism, hopefully brings people back through our door repeatedly, to share in our positive and enthusiastic approach to doing business.  I have worked in other environments and companies and can honestly say that ABEC Electric is the best place to be.”

Dan Williams
Warehouse Manager

Before getting into the electrical industry, Dan enjoyed a successful career in the grocery business and was Chief of the local volunteer fire department in North Carolina.  After a series of losses in his wife’s family, they decided to move to her home, Tennessee.  He was laid off by a local manufacturer after a short period of time, but was personally referred to ABEC by the plant manager.  He joined ABEC in 2002.

After starting the apprenticeship program and settling into a new career path with ABEC, he was once again called on to make a change. ABEC had grown to a point that the warehouse needed fulltime help. Dan was asked to bring his organizational skills and can-do attitude into the office to take care of the behind the scenes tasks that keep this company running smoothly.  As ABEC has continued to grow, Dan has stepped up and taken on any task asked of him, from managing the fleet of trucks to overseeing the flow of tools and material through the warehouse and to various projects. He will not quit on any task set before him including finishing his four year apprenticeship, even though it is not required for the position he now holds.

In addition to his wife Debbie, Dan has two grown children, two stepchildren and is starting a collection of grandchildren, now up to four.

“What I like best about my job:  I like pulling material and getting orders ready to be shipped out to jobs, but what I like most about my job is the people I work with.  We have a great group of people in the office that work together to make this company successful.  We also have a great group of people that work in the field and it is a pleasure to work with all these people.”

Dan Williams

Brent Wright
Service Manager

Brent is the newest addition to the management team, but he’s certainly not new to ABEC. In his new role, Brent is working with Doug Elam to expand the Service Department and broaden our valued customer base. His technical expertise and easy going personality make him a great fit for this position.

Brent completed his electrical training through the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) Apprenticeship program. After working for another contractor, he joined ABEC Electric in 2001.

Brent and his wife, Rebekah, have one daughter, Carson. They live in Spring Hill. When not working, Brent enjoys hunting and fishing.

“What I like best about ABEC Electric is that we, as a team, strive to be the best electrical contractor and not the biggest. Another great thing about ABEC is being able to meet different people (customers), from all over the world and developing not only business relationships, but friendships as well.”
